Juulia Kauste

Juulia Kauste is an independent expert advising architects and designers. With a background in sociology of art and culture, urban studies, and history of architecture, she has extensive experience in organizational leadership, curating and teaching. She has initiated and curated numerous programs, events, and exhibitions, and has served as commissioner at international biennale events in addition to directing the Finnish Cultural Institute, New York (1997-2010) and the Museum of Finnish Architecture,  Helsinki (2010-2018). Her teaching experience includes themes related to urban sociology, multiculturalism, sustainability, and the history and theory of design and architecture. She has served on the juries of the EU Prize for European Architecture-Mies van der Rohe Award and the Urban Public Space Prize.
